How to Open "This PC" by default in Windows 10

Whenever you open File Explorer in Windows 10 it directly jumps into "Quick access menu" but you can change it to "This PC" option. When I switched to Windows 10 then I found a lot of things annoying because I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, a found a lot of changes and difficult to adjust with Windows 10.

How to Open My Computer (This PC) by Default in Windows 10

To change file explorer default folder you can change the folder setting which allows you to select either "This PC" previously known as My Computer in Windows 7, or Quick launch menu in file explorer.
Here is a step by step guide with screenshot :-

  1. Open File Explorer (Use Win + E)
  2. Go to View Option in upper panel, (hit alt and navigate to view and then Option).
  3. Now Select This PC in "Open File Explorer to" and save the settings.

If these settings are now working for you or you want to open any other location by default you will need to do a little extra stuff.

  • Press Windows and type regedit
  • Right-click and open As Administrator
  • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\HomeFolder\NameSpace\DelegateFolders
  • Delete everything there (Looks like {2141241-BLABLA})
  • Right-click on DelegateFolders click New and choose Key
  • Name the new key {20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}
  • Select the new key and double-click the (Default) entry
  • In Value Data type the location which you want to open by default in file explorer.
